Statement of intent
It is our intention to respect the privacy of children and their parents and carers, while insuring that they access high quality early years care and education in our setting.
Aim
We aim to ensure that all parents and carers can feel happy that we will respect their child and there wishes.
Methods
Upon having a child accepted for the Nursery, the parent with whom the nursery contracts is asked to agree to the child being photographed and have moving images taken on occasion by a member of staff or other individual validated by the Nursery. (Mobile phones will not be used for this purpose.) This enables the Nursery to proceed with the taking of images for internal displays, inclusion in the child’s scrap book, publicity shots, staff training and at special occasions such as Christmas.
Every parent has the right to refuse this request, in which case the child must not be photographed by any member of staff, by a parent, or by any outsider without the express permission for that occasion of the parent with whom the nursery has a contract.
While pictures of children may be used as part of the publicity of the nursery, no pictures of children will be displayed on the nursery web site without express permission,, nor will they be made available to anyone outside of the nursery parents and staff in a digital form. (A DVD of the Christmas performance is normally made available to buy.)
Where pictures are made available to the press or television, they will not be released with the names of the child unless the contracting parent gives express permission for this to be done.
Where pictures are taken of the whole nursery (for example on the day of the visit of Father Christmas) the parents of children who have opted out of having the child photographed will be contacted to allow them to rescind their decision.
